Topics The Third Way: AGGRESSION From the Dog's Point of View
Aggression is the number one concern for dog lovers and guardians everywhere. The purpose of this presentation is to empower people to deal in the best way possible with this difficult aspect of animal behavior.

Looking at “Aggression” The Third Way, which is from the dog’s point of view, is new, interesting and provocative. Conflicts between people and dogs, or between dogs and other dogs or animals, are based on species survival vs. species demise. They are thought to be defensive in nature rather than aggressive and are approached as being natural and a necessary part of animal behaviour.

Incredibly profound and effective problem identification, problem preventing and problem solutions are discussed from this perspective.

These important questions will be addressed:
  • Are dog guardians learning the best possible information about dogs?
  • What if “Aggression” is really “Defensiveness” and a necessary aspect of survival?
What do dogs defend? Why and How?
  • Should dogs have the same space and safety “rights” as people”?
  • Is the traditional use of the “wolf model” preventing or promoting problems? Does it help or hinder solutions?
  • What are the Third Ways’ solutions to this #1 concern to dog guardian sand trainers?

Speaker CHRIS BACH
Chris Bach became involved with dog training as soon as she was old enough to hold a leash. Her life has been dedicated to learning as much as possible about the true nature of dogs and how they learn. Her laboratories and classrooms have been training halls, dog shows and clients’ homes.

She is a pioneer in her effort to show dog guardians, trainers and caretakers how to get a dog to voluntarily accept being guided, managed and educated. Her unique, user-friendly, yet effective approach to the training and living with dogs is called The Third Way. This program results in a reliably responsive and obedient dog. But it also enables the dog an guardian to feel great about being together!

The Third Way has simple-to-learn and utilize techniques that effectively enhance or diminish “reinforcement values’ and readily modify a dog’s behavior. The need for corrections and punishments is completely eliminated making the training process much more enjoyable for people and dogs. And this pioneering approach has repeatedly proven to give people an unparalleled ability to achieve the highest level of reliability, commitment and attentiveness from their dogs. The Third Way's exclusive Three Foundation Games teach dogs that what they want is available through attentiveness and cooperation with people. There are also many of the one of a kind, fun and interesting games and strategies for teaching, problem preventing and problem solving that result in dogs and guardians who experience the joy of living, learning, working and playing together in a happy, harmonious, and successful partnership.

Chris gives training and behaviour seminars across the United States and Canada. She had articles published in the well-known dog training magazine Front and Finish. She has dialogued with the leading authorities on dog vs. wolf behaviour at Wolf Park in Indiana as well as other venues. She has spoken at the American Pet Dog Trainers and Puppyworks conferences. Chris was invited to participate with the American Human Association brought together fifty of the top trainers in the country to build a code of ethics and guidelines of logical and identical dog training. Chris lives in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin with her husband, Bill, Border Collies Goose and Tigger, and Rosie their Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.
