Report for Dietary Landscape Seminar

October 4, 2009, Beeton, Ontario

This intimate venue lent itself very nicely to personalized Q & A. We learned about foods that are high in nutrients to provide our dogs with the necessary nutrition to fight inherent disease. Many breeds are predisposed to specific disorders and by choosing the right foods, we can at least help to combat the disease and give our beloved dogs a fighting chance.

In fact, it would seem that in litters where all siblings were severely afflicted, those who were supported with foods to counter disease, were spared.

There was much discussion and a book signing after the event. Monica’s  husband, Morley, was on board to help with the sale of her suppliments which were very popular.

The day boasted a great raffle basket as fundraiser for The Dog Legislation Council of Canada and a table for Therapy Dogs. For a donation attendees to chose any item from their table.

Along with a great breakfast, all day refreshments, snacks and big home made lunch, overstuffed goodie bags with great items included were distributed to each attendee.

Quote from Monica
"Some people won't use taurine because they say it comes from China (mine doesn't), but if they looked hard and asked questions, they'd find options. I guess I just need to say this as a heads up (again!) so I can rest easier. We really and truly can prevent some disasters if we think ahead and employ the power of certain nutrients, taurine being one of them."

Attendee Comments:
"A good turnout with  many people who home cook or feed raw plus some who do a combo. I have been to a seminar by Monica before and enjoyed it thoroughly and learned so much. This one was just the same, absorbing so many ideas about being proactive in feeding our dogs. Monica discussed the idea of dietary landscape which in a nutshell is knowing your breed and its potential health problems then tailoring the diet to help PREVENT the problems or at least slow them down. She also to a look at a particular health problem and the ramifications it can have for other health issues. Of course as with any new concept it takes time for people to begin to understand and then adopt new ideas. It is well worth hearing her speak about this".
